I've lived in this city for about 19 years and this is the most snow I've ever seen and maybe only the third time I've seen it snow here. My husband and the kids have never seen snow in person so they were having a blast. We picked up enough snow off of our cars to have a mini-snowballs fight. Talk about cheap entertainment. It brought back a lot of memories of my childhood in New Jersey. I wouldn't be too fond of living further north at this time in my life. However, I do think it's a shame that my little ones won't have the same fun I had when I was a kid.
I like the interesting tint of the shots. It was really dark outside, so I set the camera with a slower aperture and this is what came out.
Our plain backyard.
That snow on the palm tree is surreal! I wish I had some.
ReplyDeleteUp in Spring we didn't get any accumulation on the ground, but wasn't it just the prettiest thing coming down?
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to laugh that I stood outside to let the snow fall on my face, then ran inside and did a bunch of Christmas shopping online.
lovely photos! i think we should put your photos next to mine, just for a laugh! ;)
ReplyDeleteoh, and you can send your hubby and kids up here anytime. we always welcome help with shoveling (er, um, i mean playing in) the snow. ;)
LOL. My photos would look funny next to yours! :)
ReplyDeleteKnew I should have had my husband take the pictures -- I don't know how to do fancy settings with a digital camera (a film girl, myself). Yours look like they were taken mid-afternoon! (Mine, which you can see here, are much darker.) But it was a ton of fun, wasn't it?
ReplyDeleteWhere in Jersey are you from? I'm located in South Jersey and it's been nothing but spring-like temperatures and rain for the past 3 days. :( I want some snow...
ReplyDeleteD&B - At least you got snow falling. I couldn't catch that for some reason. In that case I think the flash would've helped out.
ReplyDeleteJill - I'm originally from the northern area of NJ (Bergen County). It's a sunny day today and everything has now melted away. :(
Wow! It never snows in Lisbon (where I come from) or Buenos Aires (where I live now), so I can share your family´s enthusiasm for the phenomenon!
ReplyDeleteHappy snowy days!
Snow on Palm Trees! What a lovely and interesting sight!
ReplyDeleteFrom: Toronto. Where we have far too much snow, and not nearly enough palms ;)
How fun! Happy Snow Day!
ReplyDeleteoh this is such a wonderful christmas treat for you all. how fun!
ReplyDeleteit is too bad that the warmer climate states don't experience that magic that snow brings, i agree. there is just something about snow.
i like the backyard shot with snow on the palm. how irregular is that?
and plain is fine. at least it's clean:)
x
I always love snow pics - I miss the snow. I don't think it's going to snow in Southern california, though...
ReplyDeletei'd love to see a little snow!
ReplyDeletehappy holidays
Wow, it must be amazing for you to get so much snow! The photos are magical. The glow makes it look like it is warm despite the snow crystals. Thanks for sharing. I love you crocheted scarf, only you could whip something like that up after a long exhausting weekend (believe me, I know how hard a soccer tournament can be...) well done.
ReplyDeleteIt's cold here in N. California too, but no snow where we're at. I miss having snow for the holidays. I'm jealous!
ReplyDeleteMy mom was telling me it was supposed to snow in Houston last week. Crazy! I don't know if she took any pictures. We haven't gotten any in Tulsa, just threats of icy roads and temperatures that feel like 3 degrees. I would typically say I miss Houston at this point, but I guess it's not too much better there right now. I'm ready for summer. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! I love how snow gives the sky an amazing glow - that yellowy tinge.....
ReplyDeletesnow on the tree is weird :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like Kingwood got more snow then Montgomery did. We had some huge snow flakes but none of them stuck!
ReplyDeleteI love the snow of the palm tree. ;)
Beautiful photographs! I love photographs of snowy foliage! :)
ReplyDeleteit's GORGEOUS! your yard and home AND the snow. we get too much for my liking here in pittsburgh, but in erie i was a SNOW QUEEN.
