the car stayed home

It was a great weekend! We celebrated our little C's birthday all weekend long and she enjoyed every minute of it. Aside from that, the highlight of the weekend was our Saturday afternoon. What would've been a few minutes of running ordinary errands turned into a fun time spent together. We went to return a rented movie, eat ice cream and purchase a few other items. Like I said - ordinary. The only difference is that we did it all without the use of our car. Where we live, you use your car to go anywhere. I don't think I've ever seen anyone around here walking around to take care of some errands. For exercise - but not for errands. What would've taken us 20 min to do, took us about 4 hours but we had a wonderful time and the weather was absolutely perfect. My only regret? Not taking my good camera. These shots were taken with my iPhone.

Thank you to Natalie for featuring my tealight cover project on the Craft blog and thank you for all the lovely comments about the project. It never ceases to surprise me when I get such response over something I make. Really.

  1. We live about 10 houses away from a movie rental place, snow cone place, and the grocery store. In the Spring, Summer, and Fall, we do a ton of walking up for all of that. I have to say though I never notice our neighbors doing the same. Just not what people do anymore.

  3. just found you and really love your work. your logo/identity systems via zapata design are lovely, crisp, simple and telling. quite nice! always wonderful to find creative moms balancing life (or trying very hard). the photos of your walk are refreshing. we just took a similar photo journal of our own neighborhood. fun to explore it with new eyes now that spring has sprung. will visit again!

  5. Love it! We need to do that more too. We walked to the park last weekend with our neighbors. It took us 45 minutes and the kids had a blast. It was nice to be included in our neighbors' walk. We wouldn't have thought to go that far on our own.

  6. I walked to lunch the other day from home and got a lot of odd looks for not power walking only strolling - we live in such a lovely area its too bad we don't take advantage of it more often.
