happy ending

This was a really great week. I can't even tell you why and I will never be able to. All I can say is that, it is confirmed once again, that things happen for a reason. They just do. It's really quite amazing how frustrating certain events can be and all of the sudden the clouds clear and you 'get it'—there was a reason behind it all.

Today I'm just grateful. So very grateful.

giveaway

On an unrelated matter and just because I happen to be arranging some things and found an extra calendar, I've decided to host a small giveaway. January has come and gone and February is upon us, so I know that almost a full page is useless to you. To make up for that, I will also include a copy of my book and a small assortment of paper goodies.

Just leave a comment below and share what you've been grateful for recently. I know we all have something. The comments section will be open until Monday at 10pm EST. I'll announce the winner on Tuesday. (Make sure to leave me your contact info!)

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. How gorgeous! I have been grateful for my best friend Nina who has recently moved interstate whom has always been there when I want to bake a cake, watch a silly movie or when I need a shoulder to lean on. She is my rock and I am so grateful to her.

  2. Yesterday, after a day full of worry and stress, when I thought I was ready to break down and cry, a package arrived for me from one of my customers. She had sent me a gift that was so thoughtful, that I did nearly cry, but from joy. So today I am thankful for the kindness of strangers.

  3. Here's to the silver lining!

Recently I've had some enlightening moments regarding how short life really is. Those kinds of moments that really hit home and you feel it deeply. Though that feeling is certainly melancholy, I am grateful for the reminder and it just makes every everyday moment that much better!

  4. I've been grateful for all the snow days we've been having - and that my boss doesn't expect me to brave my steep hill on those days. My husband is a writer and my daughter homeschools - and it's been so nice to wake up and be home with them all day.

  6. i've been grateful to my husband for last week-end, when he took care alone of the four kids while i was in Paris with a good friend : i could speak, do shopping, sleep (!) and feel like I'm someone too, in the middle of a difficult period with the children...

  8. I'm thrilled to be finally moving forward on the biggest project of my life (writing a dissertation) and I'm incredibly grateful for the people who refused to let me give up on myself along the way. Constant reminders that there is more to life than books and documents -- snow!, relearning origami via my Dad's new years resolution, loving and trusting children, snow!, good friends, cooking projects, snow!, all the surprising and beautiful things the world has to offer -- make me so grateful that I have a life flexible enough that I can take my time to enjoy the world.

(I'm also very grateful to have rediscovered crafting and the many ways I can use my hands to create more than food or words -- not that I plan to stop doing either any time soon!)

  10. I am grateful for craftster.org right now and the inspiration I have been feeling from doing swaps there. They really are keeping me moving along on my desire to do something creative each day.

And I would feel bad if I didn't say I am grateful for my babies and for my husband, because they are better than anything I could make otherwise.

  11. The thing I'm most grateful for currently is my husband. Through 6 years of marriage and an almost 2 year old baby (complete with 6 mos of PPD), he still takes care of me and makes me feel like the most important woman in the world.

  20. What a great giveaway! I am up to my eyeballs trying to get my house ready to sell, and my daughter came home yesterday and said that the art teacher at school heard my son telling some friends that my daughter was one of his best friends....what a kick in the teeth reminder about what's important, and what to be thankful for as I clean, straighten, clean, straighten, clean, straighten (and did I mention there's often yelling? Oh I didn't?! ;) Deep breath...thanks for the reminder! xo

  24. I'm incredibly thankful that I have a job. After being out of work for 13 months after a layoff (I still can't belive it took that long to find a new job), I took a job that pays 40% less than my old position. Six months later, I have found that I can pay my bills and enjoy the people in my new company. Times are hard right now, but in my situation, I've learned how to make do with less and find happiness in a position that I thought I would dislike. It's been a great lesson to learn.

I've already lost count of all the times I've had a problem that took all my energy away, and I felt I was completely alone here, and nobody else around me could relate, and as soon as I searched for it online and found all the other human beings who've been here, then I didn't have that urge to cut my veins any more :)

  58. One year ago today my husband Todd and I were in Ethiopia to pick up our son Vander. It has been our greatest and most fulfilling adventure. He has brought such joy to our home, and made us a family. The comment Todd and I hear the most is, “Vander is so lucky to be adopted by you two.” But really we are the lucky ones, and everyday he gives us so much love, I am reminded of how absurdly fortunate we are. Now, that we have become parents it is a gift we share with each other, and give unconditionally to our little guy. Vander thank you so much for being in our lives. We love you, SOOOO MUCH!!! I am thankful to have a son to love.

Just last week, we received a generous monetary gift from my husband's parents - what and example of love and answer to prayers!
