I can check it off the list

I've been wanting to have a portfolio type site under my name for a long time. Not A Little Hut, not Zapata Design, just little ol' me. Well it's finally published. Notice I didn't say finished. I still have a few tweaks to make and add a little something of my graphic design work. But I think it's ready for the world to see. It's very simple and straightforward and the images there won't be anything new to those of you that visit me here.

Patricia Zapata site here.

Speaking of all my sites, I've always wondered what people refer to me or think of me as - the magazine bowl girl, the alittlehut gal (lady?), oh what's her name patricia zapato, o no! zapata?

Another thing I'm still working on is my name/logo. I freeze when it comes to working on a logo for myself. It's the same problem I have with deciding the paint colors for the walls of our house. After chatting with someone about for a couple of minutes about their concerns, tastes and dislikes and even though I'm the furthest thing from an interior decorator I can suggest wall colors without batting an eyelash. Me? My house? Again, I freeze. Sigh.

I feel the rambling wave coming on. I'll spare you all and exit now!

  1. Your new site looks fabulous, lovely and clean. I'm the same when it comes to designing things for myself, other people are so much easier to make decisions about. Don't ask me how many times we have painted our walls, to the point where we have given up and painted them all white!

  3. Patricia, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the piece here with the magazines in the background of the crisp white paper cut. It's so lovely! I dapple in papercuts myself a little too, but this is lovely!!!

The new site is great too. Very nice! And have more trust in yourself, I am sure you will come up with the perfect logo!

  4. Your new site is beautiful! I think of you as Patricia or A Little Hut. I like the clean feel of your work which serves as a blank canvas for selected focus colors that may be inserted or changed more easily. I totally understand that wallpaint freeze and must remind myself that paint can be changed and white walls are fine too. :-) Congrats on the new site!

  6. HA! I'm right there with you on the paint colors for your OWN house. Even after I choose them... and paint the rooms... It's not what I really want. GR! I'm glad I'm not alone in this.

Congrats on the book! I can't wait to get it!!

  11. Thanks everyone!

Dionne - the piece your talking about is under all my recycling tutorials on my blog here. It's really easy to make.

Emma - The spiral picture is actually a magazine bowl. It also is part of my recycling projects.

Both projects can be found here:

  12. I love this idea of using strips of magazines or other junk mail to create unique art. I used some reply cards(from magazines) to create junk mail art. I plan to check out your blog further...it's very interesting!!
