401st post giveaway

My 400th post slipped by me so, to celebrate, here we are at my 401st post giveaway. I don't have a special piece to offer this time (my daughter got sick and the plan for that went out the window) so I will offer four printables of your choice to four people that post a comment and a little framed surprise in the mail to a fifth person. I will end the drawing on Jan. 20th at midnight. To participate simply leave a comment below and answer one little question for me. I want to make another group of gift boxes but I'm undecided as to what theme to run with this time. Do you have any thoughts for me? If you don't, how about... what do you want to see me make next? Just curious.

And to give you a heads up... Starting January 17th (until the end of the month) with the purchase of any 2 A Little Hut printables you will receive a 2009 Patterned Initials Calendar for free!

Thank you to all of you that visit and comment on my blog and make my efforts here so very rewarding. It is all truly appreciated.

  3. I really enjoy your blog and seeing your projects....gift box design ideas....oh boy I really wish it was spring so my thoughts are on hopping bunnies, baby birds, and spring flowers as I enjoy the beautiful weather (-12 degrees at 11am) here in the north country!!!

  4. I think a combo of Valentine's/St. Patrick's Day design would be cute. Hearts, shamrocks, etc. Or a Summer theme would be cute too. With sun, flip-flop, beach ball, etc. I really like the spring boxes you created, cute!!

  5. I think some boxes with letters and numbers on top would be interesting.
So Abgail would get a box with an A closing it or a guy could receive his gift in a box with his age on top (40, for instance).

  7. I am quite sure that ANYTHING you end up making will be lovely, simple, and added on to my list of favorites.

My idea? More animals: lions, tigers, bears (oh my!), zoo animals, jungle animals, etc. Or, teddy bears, just cats, just dogs, or a mix.

    Happy 401st post!

  8. I'm new to your designs, but I'm loving my perpetual calendar! I liked the idea of boxes with different bows on top!

  11. Congrats! I love your daisy box in the Spring collection, so I vote for a collection of flower boxes. I'm anxious for Spring, I guess.

  12. What about boxes with trees on them? (I love trees...) And I always check your blog to get som ideas that I love (but will never make, because I'm too unpatient to paper craft...

  13. i've just recently started reading your site and LOVE it. i think gift boxes with different types of leaves would be a fun spring/summer combo.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I think that the following themes would be great:

    1) Circus animals
    2) Astronomy (sun, moon, stars, shooting star)

  15. I'd love a series of letters, though I realize that a set of 26 would be intimidating (maybe release in a series of 4 each?). I think these could be very popular as wedding favor boxes.

    ReplyDelete
  16. congrats! I am a big fan of your work in our bedroom se have a cut out tree with green background that you made for me.

I think a nature theme would be great för boxes. För example a leaf, a tree, a flower and å pinecone. Or switch any for a sun or something else. I guess this theme could be called forest as well.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I was going to say zoo animals too, but also like the idea of a nature theme.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wow! 401 posts is impressive! Well done. AS for boxes...I think insects and seaside would be good themes.

    ReplyDelete
  19. i also think a set of leaf boxes would be great! love your work.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'd love to see some Chinese New Year Boxes. We usually use red envelopes but i think red boxes would be fun. There are some characters you could use or the zodiac animal for the year. You could even do all 12 animals and make it a 3 part set!

I love your little boxes. Thanks for such an interesting blog.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I would like to see some 'baby' inspired boxes, perhaps with a boy/girl theme or a catch-all design.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Congratulations, Patricia, and warmest wishes for continued magical creativity! Perhaps a birthday set for the gift boxes, like a cake, candle, party hat, balloon, etc. Any maybe, possibly also include "happy birthday" or some other message on the boxes as part of the template? All of your ideas are beautiful, and I look forward to your next creations.

  23. No suggestions but I just wanted to say how much I love looking at the the photos of your work, especially your trees.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Love your designs so much!

Baby themed boxes woud be good (as suggested above). Maybe a rattle, a bottle, a bootie, and a button (in as cutes as a button)?

V-day would be good as well - a heart with an arrow through it, XO, etc.

    Thanks again!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Without looking at any other suggestions, I'll say a monogram... I guess that would be a lot of work, being 26 letters, but I think it would make a nice personalized little box. Congrats on 401! It's an impressive number.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I think a 4 season gift box would be nice. Congrats on the 401 post!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think a summer theme would be good - sandcastle, sun, ball, ummm, I'm not sure what else. Or you could do an 'Under the Sea' theme - seahorse, starfish, fish, jellyfish...

    That's all I've got.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Wild animals - bears, otters etc......this would be so cool! xx

    ReplyDelete
  29. Freebies! The trees that you cut out are always a joy for me to see. Have you ever done anything large scale before with your art? That might be interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  30. hmmm- how about baby gift boxes, wedding themed, seems like anything princess is popular these days, fishing, sports, pets (puppies, kittens gold fis...etc.), a set of flowers....hmmm ok that's all I have.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I really love your work, it's so inspiring! =D

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think you should do some sports ones with different kinds of balls on the tops or a bat and glove - those kinds of things. I'd also like to see some that teachers could use - like pencils, apples, stars - for kid give aways.

Thank you so much for all your great ideas!

    ReplyDelete
  35. How about a sea theme? Or different sea themes, one maybe shells, another sea creatures, etc. The colors you could use would be so cool!

    ReplyDelete
  36. It would be really cool if you could do gift boxes with different bows on top since those could be used for any occasion.

Have you thought about doing a line of Alice In Wonderland artwork like the ones you did of Red Riding Hood?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ooooh! I like the idea above of combining your beautiful trees with your boxes... Actually, maybe that's not really what she meant. But that would still be cool

    ReplyDelete
  38. Um, themes...
    Dinosaurs
    Craft stuff
    School
    Sport
    Toys
    Bugs

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hmm, maybe some more flowers. Or fruits (apples, strawberries, etc.). Congrats on 401!

    ReplyDelete
  40. My brain was overworked today, but I will give this a try. Something a little more mod and off the wall might be Boy/Girl boxes. You know like the figures on public bathroom doors. It would be a fun favor for any co-ed event. :)

  41. hey, after a few weeks of reading i feel brave enough to utter suggestions..it's been inspirartional to pop in each day- am currently backpacing in Queensland (Aust)& missing my creative corner at home in the UK..I digress..Your query..
since you have a spring 'collection' already, why not go with the seasons? starting on summer now gives time to create a bundle..i know someone above suggested summer and went down the seaside theme.... i'll add to that & say within the 'summer' idea ..a picnic...gives you leeway with cakes(could be a whole range in themselves)/ice-creams/parasols/frisbees..

  42. I'm not sure how practical it would be, but how about some woodland themed boxes - mushroom, squirrel and, um, well, other woodland stuff :)

I like someone else's idea for bugs, too. My son would be thrilled with the bugs!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I like your colors, and style. Have you thought about trying to make paper dolls or little books/notebooks?

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oh, boxes with letters would be fantastic! Of course, if you set yourself out to do the whole alphabet, you're in for a real task... But how fun would it be to spell someone's name out with them and put little trinkets inside each one? I'm already sold.

    ReplyDelete
  56. So glad I stumbled upon your blog (found you through twitter!) and shop. You have lovely lovely stuff. Hope you don't mind if I add you on Twitter (I'm new to it, and feel like a stalker already!). All good things.

    ReplyDelete
  57. OOH! OOH! Pick me! I have ye to purchase from you but you are on my favorite sellers list on Etsy.

As far as new ideas go, I agree with a previous post that you should make more animal boxes. And I know this might no be in your league, but I think some of your designs would go great as wall decals. Those are getting pretty big these days, eh?

    ReplyDelete
  58. I vote for a girlie theme. Some ideas are a high heeled pump, a ring, a purse, nail polish bottle, lipstick tube, or a bow.

I love the idea of letter boxes and (maybe looking ahead to summer) different fruits.

I would love to see more cute series like you did with Little Red Riding Hood. Maybe a boy theme? I am expecting a boy in May and am looking at cowboys and Indians and vintage boy things . . . I just love your cut paper illustrations and you could never make too many trees!

Thanks for sharing your creativity so generously with us!

  62. Congrats on your 401st post!!!

I'm thinking something back-to-schoolish, like apples, pencils, crayons or something birthday partyish, like balloons, cupcakes, or a bow (to look like a present)--somehting that could be filled and sent home as a party favor.

    Turtles
    Wedding theme

Again, love your work, your blog, and your site.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love the idea of a leaf theme or trees to use for friends and loved ones.

For the kids, there aren't a whole lot of awesome boy things out there so I'd love to see a space themed box set maybe a rocket ship, robot, the planet Saturn and a shooting star?

  78. What about little Valentine boxes.. maybe pink, red, white with hearts, two birds... real girly. I think that they would be popular even after Valentines.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I loveeee woodland theme...i.e. owl, red riding hood, trees :)

    ReplyDelete
  80. Mmm...what about numbers? Sounds complicated but that's okay as I am not the designer! Then you could give a couple together for those longer in the tooth.

I have your perpetual calendar and have made 3. I also have a card and box file. Thought today that it would be nice to give a gift box with the person's initial cut out of the side and the 'hole' backed with paper, just as on the perpetual calendar.

    I love everything!

Do you do kids stuff? I am thinking of buying a stationery file for my girls because I loved the stuff when I was a kid and, as you may have guessed, still do!

What about an initial/monogram stationery set? or one with cut outs like the calendar? Did you notice that i like the cut out thing?!

    Thanks for your great products,
    Sheryl

reflecting the lifestyle in a new age against massproduction

  90. Hi Patricia! Love your blog..thanks for this lovely giveaway! Picking box design ideas was easy...a peace sign would be terrific, or robots/spaceships, or sports...my son would flip if he got a treat in a baseball box! So those ideas were with my kids in mind. If I bought a set for myself, I'd want one with the shape of scissors on top! Good luck! xo corinne
