For some reason I'm in the mood for brevity so here's the latest:
- We're still at my parent's house
- We still have no power at our house and it may be 2 weeks before we get it (!!!!!)
- The kids don't have school this week
- Most of the grocery stores are down to the non-perishable items—nothing refrigerated
- Lines for gas are really long so we're limiting our traveling a lot
I think that's about it for now. ;)
Sorry it's still so rough for you guys! Down here we're doing a little better, but if you go a few blocks closer to the water it's awful, flood damaged and no power, and cops monitoring everything... So sad!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I completely feel for the people on the coast. It's such a huge mess down there. In comparison we're doing absolutely great!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're doing ok too!
Ooo, boy. Thankfully you're somewhere safe and loved. Hope you return to your home soon. Take care!
ReplyDeleteThings we take for granted... Hope things get back to normal soon.
ReplyDeleteoy. hang in there.... hugs
ReplyDeleteSimilar story from BIL just north of Houston...I'm sorry, good luck, and is your house okay?
ReplyDeleteThat picture is like the twitter 'fail whale'
A little hut is down...
Glad to hear y'all are ok. My parents live nearby and I just spoke to them...their neighbors and them are basically having a block party, trying to use up foods and stuff prior to spoiling. I think they were all drunk. I reminded them that liquor doesn't go bad and they just laughed at me. Silly empty nesters! Hope y'all survive the heat. Hope it cools down soon.
ReplyDeleteglad to hear that everyone is still safe. hang in there!
ReplyDeleteJust glad you are all safe and sound. I was thinking how life throws things our way. This "camp out" (if we can call it that) that you are on at your parent's home may not have happened otherwise. Maybe a small blessing in disguise that will later be more clear.
ReplyDeleteI tend to look things like that now when the unexpected happens.
Hope you are all enjoying each other. I hope it passes soon and that you are able to get back to your daily living, in your own home of course.
All the best.
xo
Oh, how scary to go through all that, I cannot imagine! Sending happy thoughts to you and your family...
ReplyDeleteWe're still without power, but otherwise fine; my husband's having us stay at my parents' house, as he's a doctor and has to be up REALLY early, and says showering by flashlight is hard, but when he's on call I'm staying at home and it's really not bad so far. My parents had a meat cook-out with all of our meat before they got their power back. Fun! No mosquito problem yet either.... but I feel it's likely coming.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can get back to your own little hut really soon. It sounds like you've been through a total nightmare. x
