the need to make more

Does anyone else feel a twinge of sadness when they sell something they've made? Is it just me? Don't take me wrong. I love that my artwork is considered worthy enough for someone to purchase. But at the same time, I feel like I'm giving a little bit of myself away as I put an order in the mail. For some reason, I really felt that with my blue tree. So I made another. I think I'm just going to keep making these leafy trees - one at a time - no templates - all unique. I love trees. Can you tell? :)

A big thank you to Paper Crave and The Budget Casa for blogging about my gift boxes and cards. Thank you Kristen and Lyz!

  1. Absolutely stunning! I love the tree I have of yours- it's in my new office! When I finish my office next month (I still have to put a few things up on the walls) I will send you photos!

  2. Oh, I definitely become attached to the items I make. This is why I try to keep the firsts of everything new beastie I make. These firsts have so much more invested in them, and they also bear the flaws that only a mother creator could love.

  3. the blue tree is going to a very good home, to a person who does not often spend much, but who saw your tree and thought, that is *just* the thing to brighten every day.

  4. Thanks Mary Kate! :)

Beetlegirl - I'll have to try that - keeping the first one. As weird as it sounds I've never thought of doing that.

Christie - That is just about the nicest thing anyone could say about my work. Not to sound to mushy but I actually teared up when I read your comment. Thank you!

  6. I know the feeling. I don't craft much, but I get upset when my mom sends the cards she makes. AND sometimes I get a little sad when I cook something reallyyy pretty and then eat it all up. That's why cameras are so wonderful! You have a little memory forever.

  7. Yes, I feel this too. I think there is a connection to everything we create, it's very much a personal process for me, and as good as it feels to share that, it is still hard to let them go.

  8. PLEASE please please make more trees. I just found your site today and I love the trees... especially the blue because it's my favorite color. So I was terribly sad that both of them were sold already.

I'll definitely be back with high hopes that I'll be able to claim one of those trees for myself soon! : )

  9. I agree, I hope you will make more trees because I've been drooling over your work for months now, and I may have to fight Shauntelle for one of the trees! :)

  11. I can relate, I get worried wondering if the work I've done are going to a good home and that it doesn't get mistreated or disrespected. And that I hope the buyer loves the work as much as I do, it's like a metaphor of watching your kids leave the nest to go forth into the world and as the mother you're slightly worried for them but happy they found a place for themselves. Ok, maybe that's just me.

I love all your paper work, they're absolutely gorgeous. You're one of my inspirations!
