Our opinions on graying hair are another matter. His mother has a very pretty full head of white hair. He thinks that it would work great for me too. Ummm. No. I love my MIL dearly but I'm not her. That's my blunt and maybe not so smart (but won't change) answer to that one.
So this is what I look like today. The flip on the bottom is just my curly hair trying to rebel the straightening I tried out for today. The look completely changes when it's curly. For the record, I'm terrified of dying my hair. I've never done it and there are more than a few dozen gray hairs all over my head. Not sure when I'll get up the courage to get them taken care of. On the flip-side, I'm very low maintenance in the beauty department and the idea of having to keep track of roots just sucks the will power out of me.
It looks great! Flattering and yet, looks surprisingly low maintenance! I wish I could get away with shorter hair, but I tried (and failed!) enough times to know better at this point!
ReplyDeleteI love it!, Patricia! Doesn't it feel lighter? that's how I feel when I first chopped off my hair. I can't wait to cut my hair off (that it's long enough to cut off and donate to Locks of Love!).
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog by the way! Glad you like #3! I'm trying them in various single colors and even a 2-color combinations.
You look FANTASTIC! So stylish! I'm in dire need of a haircut. I haven't had one since September! I'm a mess!
ReplyDeleteDont be affraid of dying! I found my first gray hair at 16and started coloring at home around 22 and then when I was 28 I let the pros take over. I make an appointment every 5-6 weeks and love the way I feel when I leave. My confidence certainly is given a big boost and afterall if you arent happy with the color just change it!
ReplyDeleteIf my hubby told me to go with hair like his mother I would slap him, but then again you said you love your MIL...hmmm me? not so much plus her hair looks like a helmet!
I'm low maintenance as well, and couldn't bring myself to committ to a full dye job either. Have you considered highlights instead?
ReplyDeleteI recently had them done and they work to conceal the grays, cost less than a full dye would, and don't require touch ups as often. I know I'll have to get a full dye someday, but I'm putting it off as long as highlights continue to do the trick.
The new cut looks good! And you have that gorgeous dark hair that I think looks so stylish with little hints of gray.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes...dying stinks! I started going gray in college and have been "highlighting" ever since.
super cute! and take it from somebody who has been dying their hair since 7th grade (themselves lol!) it's not that scary. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks ladies! You always come through and make me feel better. :) I've thought of highlights but what color?
ReplyDeleteAnd Cathe - yes, much lighter! I can't imagine waiting to have my hair that long. You're so patient and brave!!
low maintenance is good. maybe add some layers - though your hair looks great just the way it is. i tell my hair stylist that i can spend 1 min or less with a dryer. the cut should work with the no gel, no fussy drying system i have ... and still look like a pro did it :). asking for much.
ReplyDeletefor highlights - try auburn tinge. i have black hair and olive skin as well.
I like your hair like that - perfect for spring.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cut! You look so fresh! I've got the same problem about dying my hair! I've never done it before and I should begin to think about it now....
ReplyDeleteYour hair looks great! As for highlights, it can just blend things in. I'm pretty low maintenance in that dept as well and don't have the time or patience to get colored. But highlights you can do about 3 or 4 times a year. Just get them VERY subtle...just a shade or two lighter and you'll be all set. If you care. Which you shouldn't because either way, your hair looks cute.
ReplyDeleteHi, i am reading this late, but here is my hair color comment, color it and have it done professinally. No to highlights, they are high maintenance. I have done oveall color for easily 20 years, yes its expensive, but the one time I tried to grow out did not work for me under any circumstances. I love my hair and unless you have fab silver/white, dont do it. Colr girlfriend, color!
